Nations Capital Energy Solutions, part of the McCrea family of companies, is hiring motivated, detail-oriented individuals to join our fast-growing team in Richmon d, VA as a Home Energy Rater (Field Inspector) . This role is ideal for those looking to grow their skills in building science, energy codes, and home performance testing — prior certification is not required, and we provide full training and mentorship.

Pay :

Trainee : $18 – $22 / hour

Certified HERS Raters : $50,000+ per year

Location & Work Environment

Based in Richmond, VA and surrounding areas

Field-based position working on residential job sites

Company-provided vehicle and gas card for all work-related travel

Full time, primarily Monday-Friday during standard business hours (occasional flexibility may be required)

Training and Career Path :

We provide all the tools, training, and guidance you need. You’ll work toward RFI certification by completing mentored ratings, passing the RESCAZ exam, and completing a final graded field evaluation. After certification and at least one year of experience, employees are eligible for further training and advancement based on performance and company needs.

Responsibilities :

• Conduct residential energy inspections and diagnostic testing (blower door, duct leakage, HVAC airflow)
• Prepare detailed reports and communicate with builders, contractors, and team members
• Maintain tools, testing equipment, and documentation
• Follow safety policies and manufacturer specifications
