Operator-Emergency Communication Center FT, Nights
Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing and facilitating critical communication functions across the organization to ensure seamless coordination of emergency and non-emergency operations. Serves as the central point for routing, monitoring, and maintaining communication systems, including radio, telephony, paging, and digital platforms.
- Answer Emergency Medical Services (EMS) radios and phones and route calls to appropriate patient care areas, prioritizing calls and communicating patient information to the Charge Nurse or Patient Flow Coordinator to facilitate patient placement and staff readiness. Monitor helipad, squad entrance, and trauma bays via cameras to support staff awareness and patient flow.
- Communicate with customers, including community EMS and system personnel. Act as liaison between EMS and the system. Collaborate with EMS medics and clinical staff in determining trauma level, appropriate code activations, and patient placement.
- Ensure accurate documentation of communication logs, messages, and incident details.
- Support internal and external stakeholders by relaying critical information promptly and professionally.
- Record patient data in CarePoint workstation and electronic medical records (EMR). Record radio and phone conversations for performance improvement purposes.
- Initiate alerts through the Red Alert system for code activations and update alerts with required information when needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Education : Job-related coursework beyond high school.Experience : Two (2) years of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) field, dispatch, or hospital-based experience.In Lieu Of
In lieu of two years of EMS, three years of experience in hospital emergency department or medical services including direct medical care, nursing support, coordination of medical administrative services (insurance, medical records, admissions, etc.) may be considered.Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses
