We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Maintenance team at our Gaston, SC facility. The ideal candidate for the Control Systems Specialist role will be results-driven, thrive on technical challenges, and use strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills to provide Electrical and Instrumentation support and drive continuous improvement at the site. Responsibilities The Controls Systems Specialist will report to the Electrical Engineer and have responsibilities for the following tasks :
- Provide plantwide technical support for Electrical and Instrumentation systems.
- Troubleshoot complex instrument and controls equipment beyond Maintenance E&I capabilities, including :
Inverters
Coriolis flowmetersAnalyzersLoss-in-weight feedersNuclear level devicesInstrument-related, electrical, or unknown-origin problemsManage hardware / software for Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) in critical manufacturing facilities.Update .pdf drawings using Bluebeam for obsolete equipment replacement or error corrections during maintenance / capital work.Initiate, execute, and review Management of Change (MOC) processes as needed.Maintain databases for Instruments, Power Panels, and Critical Controls.Review engineering packages related to Electrical and Instrumentation equipment.Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) to ensure safety and compliance.Execute projects and communicate progress through the Project Reporting System / Database.Develop maintenance and troubleshooting procedures, train non-exempt E&I staff, and lead shutdown efforts for critical devices.Monitor technology for obsolescence and recommend long-term solutions, including critical spare parts risk assessments.Prepare high-voltage systems for contractor work, including :De-energizing equipment
Installing protective groundsMonitoring contractor safety proceduresRespond to emergency situations (e.g., power outages) to minimize property loss and maintain life safety systems.Install, operate, and maintain electrical equipment, including :Primary power distribution / transmission cables
Portable engine generatorsTransformersHigh-voltage switchesAbility to splice and terminate various types of high voltage multiphase power cable.Perform installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of high-voltage systems (up to 13.8KV) and related low-voltage equipment, including distribution and generation components such as transformers, generators, circuit breakers, controls, and underground conductorsRequired Skills Required
