Description

The Lawrenceville School announces a possible opening for a full-time English teacher. We are seeking enthusiastic, energetic, collegial individuals who want to work with both adults and high school students in a collaborative and inclusive academic setting. The English Department encourages students to develop a love of reading, facility and pleasure in writing, and an appreciation for literature as a way to understand themselves and the world.

Essential Responsibilities

• Teach four sections / two to three preps per trimester (approximately 50 students).
• Two seasons of coaching or equivalent co-curricular commitment, including at least one season of interscholastic coaching (or the equivalent).
• Advise five to eight students, and do one evening a week of "House duty," providing supervision in a student residence from 7-11 : 30 pm. Although not necessarily starting their first year, faculty who reside in School-provided housing are expected to spend eight years living in one of the residential houses at some point in their career.
• Chaperone a weekend activity (dance, coffee house, etc.) at least once per term.
• Work within the department and in the broader school to foster community and belonging.
• Work professionally and cooperatively within the department, the School, and the broader Lawrenceville community.
