Certified Medical Assistant
The Certified Medical Assistant performs routine clinical and administrative duties to support daily operations in the assigned clinic or physician practice. The CMA works under the supervision of a licensed provider or nurse, assisting with patient care, diagnostic testing, documentation, and front-office functions to ensure efficient and compassionate service delivery.
Minimum Education & Experience
Required : High school diploma or equivalent
Required : Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent
Licensure & Certifications
Required : Current certification as a CCMA, CMA, or RMA
Required : Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently with minimal supervision
Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
Ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
Proficient in basic computer applications and electronic medical records (EMR)
Essential Functions
Assist physicians and nurses with patient assessments, treatments, and procedures
Perform basic diagnostic tests and collect laboratory specimens as directed
Monitor, record, and report changes in patient condition to appropriate clinical staff
Accurately document all patient care activities and treatments
Maintain examination rooms, equipment, and medical supplies restock, clean, and troubleshoot as needed
Perform administrative duties such as reception, patient registration, scheduling, and data entry
Ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies
Non-Essential Functions
Participate in quality-improvement activities and staff meetings
Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental goals
