CODING & COMPLIANCE DEPARTMENT MANAGER
Job Title : Coding & Compliance Manager / Certified Professional Coder
Reports to : Vice President, Operations and Vice President Human Resources
Responsibilities :
- Coordinate flow of work in Coding Department
- Liaison for upper management and Coding Department employees
- Inform management and Coding Department of coding changes
- Check work of new employees
- Training of new employees
- Respond to disciplinary problems within department
- Review individual Coding Department Employees work for accuracy and quality
on a regular basis
Conduct yearly review of employees of Coding DepartmentCheck in charges as necessaryCode chronic pain chargesCorrect coding errorsCorrect errors in CPT and ICD-10 maintenanceProvide coding estimates in absence of Assistant ManagerUpdate and maintain the Department ManualAnnual or Bi-annual review of client records and departmental codingEnter ICD-10 and CPT coding updates in MSI annuallyFamiliarize the department with CCI updates and useStay abreast of yearly PQRS updates and requirements for reportingCompose company blogs as requested and assignedResearch coding issues as neededPrepare and present educational material in department staff meetingsUpdate stardat calendarKeep up with and inform other Managers when end of month charges have beenreceived in absence of Assistant Managers.
Check status of charges with contact when they are not receivedPreside over monthly departmental meetingsCreate Master Distribution List monthlyCreate all other departmental logs monthlyJob requirements :
Hold and maintain coding certification(s) through the AAPC or AHIMAPrior Anesthesia Coding experience preferred.Job Relationships :
Manage two Assistant Managers and eleven full-time employees
