Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for night shifts at a high-acuity Level II Trauma Center, requiring at least 2 years of critical care experience and Cerner or EPIC proficiency.
Responsibilities
Work in a busy Emergency Department within a Level II Trauma CenterPatient population includes multi-system trauma, STEMI, stroke, CHF, COPD, GI, GU, OB / GYN, pediatrics, and psychiatric cases71-bed high-acuity ED that operates at Level I standardsTypical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 4 for ER, 1 : 5 for med-surg holds, and 1 : 3 for ICU holdsUses Cerner EMR for documentationEquipment includes Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitorsNight shifts are 12 hours, with additional schedule options availableEvery other weekend or four weekend days per month required per scheduleNo floating requiredNo on-call responsibilitiesOrientation includes 24 hours of classroom and 24 hours of unit-based training for new or returning travelersHoliday coverage includes one major and one minor holiday as per policySupport staff includes CNAs, a charge nurse, phlebotomy up to 3 : 00 am, IV / VAT team, hospitalists, and receptionists / HUCsScrubs may be any solid colorParking provided in a parking garageFirst-time travelers accepted with at least 2 years’ experience and prior Cerner or EPIC usePermanent staff must wait at least 6 months before eligibility as a travelerNo local candidates within a 60-mile radius are eligibleUp to 7 days of time off may be approved excluding blackout datesNo telemetry monitoring tech on unitRequirements
Active AL or Compact RN license requiredMinimum of 2 years of critical care experience (ICU or ER) with the most recent year in a Level II ERPrevious experience in Level II Trauma or higher environments requiredCurrent BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC, and Secure / CPI (JACHO-accepted) certifications requiredProficiency in Cerner or EPIC EMR systems requiredExperience with trach care, vent care, ICU drips, chest tubes, art lines, central venous lines, PICC, midlines, ports, foley catheters, orthopedic device application, BiPAP / HiFlow, and continuous bladder irrigationBenefits
