Field Integration Technician
What You Will Do Primary Responsibilities
- Deploy to cell site locations, install, configure, and integrate new 5G equipment from OEM (as well as de-commissioning and removing old equipment from the site).
- Troubleshoot and resolve any alarms / configuration issues faced during integration.
- Commissions and integrates legacy UMTS, GSM & LTE radio technologies.
- Able to assist as necessary with mounting / unmounting cabinets, racks and hardware.
- Typically works within maintenance window (12 : 00AM 06 : 00AM) or daytime as scheduled based on project scope.
- Site back up and configuration support with remote supervision and scripting.
- Assist in the isolation of hardware, software, and air interface malfunctions utilizing various test equipment on multiple products and technologies.
- Complete call testing and equipment testing of site alarms.
- Removes and repairs or replaces components, wires, wire bundles, terminal blocks, and / or connectors.
- Ability to follow all state and federal safety regulations (OSHA, local turfing vendor, etc.) while working in an efficient and productive manner.
- Create and maintain project databases as needed.
- Provide comprehensive and accurate reporting of all project activities.
- Ensure all closeout data has been compiled, reviewed and submitted in a timely manner.
- Interacts with other technicians and customer’s technical staff.
- Trouble shoots RBS issues, board issues (CBU / DUL, OBIF, RAX and TX).
- Understands and implements RAN, RF and Transmission designs.
- Knowledge of grounding and various types of electrical voltages and safe connection methods.
- Interprets various documents ( blueprints, diagrams, manufacturer specifications, etc.) to ensure proper installation of antenna systems using technical expertise, and knowledge of blueprints and diagrams.
- H&S Implementation.
- Ability to safely use hand and small power tools.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma / GED
- Associate’s Degree Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering or related field preferred
- and 2+ years years’ experience with working at telecommunications sites (ie, BTS / radio installation, fiber, telco, light electrical, etc).
Experience with Installation, commissioning and integration of Nokia LTE & 5G equipment.
- and would strongly benefit from having previous T-Mobile experience.
- Basic knowledge of cell site service monitors, RF test equipment, and T1 test equipment.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of IP and routing of cables.
- Experience using a Fiber scope.
- Theory and application related to project management, radio access networks, backhaul to sites signaling, disaster recovery planning and response, data services and location-based services.
- Ability to read and interpret radio frequency data sheets.
- Nokia BTS Manager experience.
- NSN Multi-Flexi System & Airscale modules and radios experience.
- Carrier equipment experience preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of multiple client network topologies and associated Radio access network (RAN) and Optical / Microwave Transmission infrastructure.
- Demonstrated understanding of microwave and fiber transmission concepts.
- Demonstrated knowledge and intermediate proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite software including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook.
- Domestic Travel 70% of the time 75%+ travel to roughly 2-3 sites per week
- Valid Government Issued Driver’s License
- Operating a company vehicle at the CMV level
- Other OSHA Construction Safety Training Card Req
- Other RF Radiation Safety & Awareness Certification Pref
- Other Successful completion of SBA Tower University Req
- Other First Aid Training / CPR Pref
- Other Certifications : UMTS, LTE, WCDMA, GSM or similar Req
- Other LTE RBS certified Req
