Position Summary

Join our dynamic team as an EVA Development SE&I Engineer and become a vital contributor to support NASA as an Oceaneering Teammate on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in the PLSS Spacesuit Technology section in the Engineering Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract.

We are seeking someone with a keen eye for detail, a strong commitment to owning their work, and providing superior quality. Someone in this role would typically have a bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of five (5) years of experience. This position can be hired at any level in our professional career framework, depending on business need at the time of hire.

  • International travel may be required. Straight time overtime, 9 / 80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and / or 1 day of telework per week may be available

Duties And Responsibilities

Some of your major responsibilities will include :

  • Evaluate from a Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) standpoint information provided by NASA's Commercial Partners via discussions and documentation adequately meets the requirements for all interfaces with the crewmember in the International Space Station (ISS), and Lunar Extravehicular Activity (EVA) environments as well as any vehicle or object that interfaces with the xEVA System.
  • Example Interfaces : Gateway Airlock Module and exterior, ISS Airlock & exterior, Human Landing System (HLS) (SpaceX & Blue Origin), Lunar Terrain Vehicle, PR, Tools, Scientific Instruments, etc.
  • Example Documents : ConOps, IRDs, DRDs, IDDs, ICDs, GR&As, Plans, Reports, System Specs, V&V, Model outputs, Analyses, etc.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Qualifications

    REQUIRED

  • A BS Engineering degree from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of extravehicular activity and space suits and the ability to use lessons learned from historical EVA and vehicle systems (background in).
  • Background in systems engineering, project engineering, design engineering, or mission operations.
  • Demonstrated history of understanding complex systems such as those under development for Artemis missions.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills such as speaking with and presenting to NASA programs, control boards, suit vendor teams, and vehicle vendor teams.
  • Strong history of reviewing technical documentation and providing meaningful feedback.
  • PREFERRED

  • The candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work independently to identify issues, prioritize responsibilities, and establish relationships with personnel on NASA teams, suit vendor teams, and vehicle vendor teams.
  • 5+ years of human spaceflight experience including 2+ years of direct experience with extravehicular activity equipment, extravehicular systems and / or space suits.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

    Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

    Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
