Hours Per Week : 40

Schedule : 12 hour shift; every other weekend rotation

SUMMARY :

As a Registered Respiratory Therapist at Massena Hospital, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality respiratory care. Working under the supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Manager and Director, you will ensure the highest standards of patient care are met in various settings including the emergency room and medical surgical floor. Your expertise will make a significant impact on patient outcomes and experiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Utilize initiative and independent judgment in critical care situations.
• Assess and address adverse reactions to therapy and medications, including respiratory distress and failure.
• Receive and interpret verbal and telephone orders from physicians for respiratory care, and write orders for cardiopulmonary medications for provider co-signature.
• Contribute to the development of work methods, job planning, and patient rounds.
• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of cardiopulmonary diseases, associated physiology, and treatment protocols.
• Conduct in-service programs on respiratory care for hospital staff as necessary.
• Ensure that quality respiratory care is consistently delivered to all patients based on physician orders.
• Execute a wide range of respiratory care procedures, including medication administration, Pulmonary Functions Testing, ventilation management, intubation, and more.
• Participate in the development and implementation of new services within the department.
• Perform Electrocardiograms and Methacholine Challenge Testing as required.
• Collaborate with treatment teams for comprehensive patient care from admission through discharge.
• Administer inhalation therapy and IV medications as appropriate, per New York State RRT scope of practice.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and / or less than 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; involves frequent walking, standing, or squatting.

COMPENSATION : $31.80 - $42.99 per hour

This range is a good faith representation of potential base pay for a full-time applicant and may vary based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
