Salary : $16.35 Hourly

Position Overview :

The New Haven Tutoring Initiative (NHTI) is seeking proactive and dedicated Education Interns. These part-time interns will work closely with certified teachers, tutors, and program leaders to tutor K-8 students in literacy. They will also work to recruit their peers as tutors and interns for NHTI. This role offers hands-on experience in education, community engagement, and nonprofit operations. We are looking for 2 Interns to specifically support our program at Lincoln Bassett School (130 Bassett St, New Haven 06511).

Work Hours and Schedule :

4-10 hours a week, weekdays during the school day and / or after school programs

Key Responsibilities :

On-Site Support :

  • Collaborate with Literacy Instructors and on-site teams to support classroom activities and small group sessions.
  • Provide 1-on-1 literacy tutoring to individual students.

Marketing and Testimonial Support :

  • Collect photos, videos, and testimonials that highlight student engagement and programimpact.

    • High School Liaison :

  • Serve as a liaison to your respective school, actively promoting New HavenTutoring Initiative programs and recruiting volunteers.
  • Hang up flyers, engage classmates, and encourage volunteer involvement to support the growth of our programs.

    • Benefits :

  • Hourly Rate of $16.35 (after completion or required community service hours, if necessary)

    • Qualifications :

  • Applicants must be between ages 16 and 24. Interested candidates under the age of 18 will need to have a parent consent form signed prior to hiring.
  • Passion for education, youth development, and community engagement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate with diverse groups of people.
  • Enthusiasm for promoting volunteerism and community involvement.
  • Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual communication tools.
  • Passion for education and commitment to improving literacy.
