American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry-Stepdown position requiring a PA or compact RN license, with strong cardiac monitoring and drip titration skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 28-bed stepdown (IMCU / Tele) unit within an acute care hospitalCare for a primarily cardiac patient population, including dysrhythmias, CVAs, and ICU stepdownsTypical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 4-5, or 1 : 6 for MedSurg acuityWork 3 consecutive 12-hour night shifts per week, from 7 : 00 p.m. to 7 : 00 a.m.Required to work every other weekend, including both Saturday and Sunday, and one winter holidayFloat to ICU as needed to provide helping handsEPIC and Cerner EMRs are used on the unitMonitor techs are present, but RNs must read and interpret cardiac strips and manage central monitoringMust titrate drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin; insulin drips are set-rateUse of BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow oxygen as respiratory interventionsParticipate in floor-specific orientation with two preceptor shiftsNavy blue scrubs required, including jackets if wornHospitalist available in-house 24 / 7; ICU intensivist available 7a-7p and on-call after hoursNo IV team, but ICU resources are available for difficult sticksNight shift charge nurse may also take patientsNo CNA support after 11 p.m.Must work within holiday rotation as assigned to permanent staffLocal candidates are not accepted; must live outside of a 50-mile radiusReturning travelers must not have worked at any WVU Medicine location within the past 2 yearsCumulative travel assignments within WVU cannot exceed one year before a 2-year break is requiredFirst-time travelers are welcome\n \n Requirements\n
