What You'll Do and Who We Are Looking For

The Community Resource Advocate is responsible for interviewing, assessing, and advocating for at-risk and diverse populations for an assigned program. Incumbents in this classification work both independently and cooperatively with other staff members in identifying and resolving specific student needs and assisting students in removing educational barriers which prevent them from continuing in their educational and employment goals.

    How We Determine Initial Salary Placement

    $62,735 (Step1) to $64,950 (Step 2); based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Science, Counseling, or related field. Experience performing the duties of this job may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis; OR degree and experience requirements established by the Subject Area Committee and approved by the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an educational or social service environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working with at-risk and culturally diverse populations.
  • Experience working with students or clients in advising and developing goals.
  • Experience assessing student needs and coordinating educational and community-based services.
  • Experience managing caseload and case files.
  • Fluency in a second language may be required dependent on job assignment. Industry experience may be required depending on assigned program.
  • Success Criteria :

  • Experience advising and advocating for students in navigating eligibility, resources, and training pathways.
  • Demonstrated ability to support students through informal assessments, classroom assistance, and individualized guidance that promotes learning and program engagement.
  • Proven skill in coordinating schedules, events, and communications to support smooth program operations.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation, databases, and reports related to student and partner engagement.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with diverse populations and community organizations.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, organization, and adaptability in managing multiple priorities.
