Under the general direction of the Chief of Police and direct supervision of the Sergeant on duty, to work regular shift assignments and to perform all functions of the Police Department as outlined in the personnel rules and regulations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA's)
Must meet the education or reciprocity requirements set by the Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and must be licensed or eligible to be licensed as a full-time police officer by the Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training. Eligible to be licensed is defined as having completed the academic, skills training and passing the license exam. Must possess a valid driver's license. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, or equivalent is preferred along with prior full-time law enforcement experience.
This work requires the occasional exertion of 10 to in excess of 100 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, sitting, climbing or balancing, tasting or smelling, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and / or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and / or small parts, using of measuring devices, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires working near moving mechanical parts and exposure to outdoor weather conditions, frequently requires exposure to vibration exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment and Animals and occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (non-weather), working in high, precarious places, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to the risk of electrical shock, working with explosives and wearing a self contained breathing apparatus; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
