MINUTE COMPOSITION CLERK

$20.46 / Hour – Hybrid Work Arrangement (On-site and Remote Work)
Tooele City is accepting applications for a part-time (estimated 20–25 hours per month), variable-hour clerk to attend and prepare minutes for the following meetings :
City Council Work Sessions – 5 : 30 p.m., 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month
City Council Meetings – 7 : 00 p.m., 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month
Planning Commission – 7 : 00 p.m., 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month
North Tooele City Special Service District – Generally one Thursday evening per month
This position is a hybrid role. The employee must be on-site for all Wednesday evening meetings and in person the following day during business hours (Thursdays) to complete draft meeting minutes.
Thursdays will begin at a set time, to be arranged at the time of hire to best accommodate the needs of both the employee and the City. In addition, the employee may be required to attend one in-person Thursday evening meeting per month for the North Tooele City Special Service District.
All other duties may be performed remotely. Specifics regarding remote work, computer requirements, and other arrangements can be discussed with the City Recorder during the interview process.
Duties :
Take detailed notes during meetings to assist in preparing accurate and complete minutes
Prepare draft minutes and distribute them to appropriate officials or staff members
Receive and incorporate feedback and prepare final official minutes within statutory and staff deadlines
Maintain confidentiality and handle private or protected information appropriately
Applicants must :
Type a minimum of 40 words per minute with accuracy
Have a high school diploma
Demonstrate strong written communication skills and attention to detail
Have reliable and predictable attendance at meetings
Exhibit strong active listening and speech recognition skills
Understand and apply rules of grammar, spelling, and composition
Be proficient in Microsoft Word, internet use, and e-mail
