We are looking for a meticulous and organized Property Accountant to join our team on a Contract basis in Santa Rosa, California. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial records by managing a variety of accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable, journal entries, and reconciliations. This position also involves tracking revenues and costs, preparing governmental reports, and supporting audits, all while maintaining adherence to strong internal controls.
Responsibilities :
- Process and record accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, and intercompany transactions with precision and timeliness.
- Perform account analysis and reconciliations to ensure financial transactions are accurately documented.
- Prepare and post journal entries to maintain the integrity of financial records.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in transactions, ensuring no duplicate, late, or mis-coded payments are recorded.
- Utilize accounting software and Excel to generate accurate and relevant financial reports.
- Document processes and maintain robust internal controls to uphold best practices in accounting.
- Track real estate development costs, grants, donations, and other revenue streams to support financial transparency.
- Assist in preparing reports for management and external stakeholders as required.
- Contribute to the annual financial statement audit by providing necessary documentation and support.
- Communicate professionally with vendors and other partners to foster strong working relationships.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in property accounting or a related field.
- Proficiency in Yardi or similar property management software.
- Strong understanding of accrual accounting and general ledger processes.
- Experience with month-end close procedures and preparing journal entries.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and manipulate complex spreadsheets.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to analyze financial data accurately.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with team members and external partners.
