Job Description :

The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown Registered Nurse provides intermediate-level care for patients who are transitioning from critical care to the general medical-surgical unit, or those who require close monitoring due to complex medical conditions. The RN is responsible for continuous cardiac monitoring, managing high-acuity patients, performing frequent assessments, and responding to changes in patient condition. This role involves strong critical-thinking skills, rapid response ability, and proficiency in caring for patients with multi-system needs.

Key Roles & Responsibilities :

  • Conduct comprehensive and ongoing patient assessments, including vital signs, cardiac rhythm, respiratory status, and neurological checks.
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry / cardiac rhythms and report abnormalities promptly.
  • Identify changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions.
  • Manage patients requiring higher-acuity monitoring such as drips, oxygen therapy, and advanced assessments.

    • Required Certifications :

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License (state-specific)
  • BLS (AHA or ARC)
  • ACLS required
