Overview
Refrigeration Technician 3 at one of our Alaska processing facilities. This highly skilled technician is responsible for installation, maintenance, and repair of complex refrigeration systems in various settings. They diagnose and troubleshoot issues and may lead teams, participate in project management and system design.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage Refrigeration, Electrical, and HVAC systems including monitoring, troubleshooting, repairs (compressors, condensers, fans, heating, cooling, contactors, motors, microprocessors, frequency drives).
- Conduct preventive maintenance within established timelines (oil analysis, filter changes, calibration of sensors and transducers, compressor alignment checks / adjustments).
- Perform regular leak detection, inspections, reporting, and implement energy management strategies.
- Maintain product integrity through temperature monitoring and control; evaluate and report equipment condition.
- Communicate clearly with management and maintenance teams; log time and materials into CMMS (work orders and PMs).
- Daily communication of system operation and maintenance information to departmental management and teams.
- Housekeeping of refrigeration machine rooms, maintenance areas, and project areas.
- Interpret plans, specifications, schematics, operating and maintenance manuals for overseen systems.
- Help and train lower-level operators.
- Assist building and material handling equipment maintenance teams as needed, including general building repairs and electrical troubleshooting.
- Perform other duties as assigned to fully support the facility.
Qualifications
Certified in Refrigeration / Electrical, Trade School Certification, or equivalent. RETA CIRO, CRST and CRES certifications required.Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration and CFC certification.HVACR knowledge.5 years' experience in Refrigeration / Electrical / HVAC.Willingness to obtain OSHA HAZMAT 24-hour training within 90 days of employment.Work Environment and Physical Demands
Exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet / humid conditions, extreme cold, high places, fumes, chemicals, and loud noise. Onsite at Alaska facilities with potential travel to remote locations. Physical demands include long shifts (12–16 hours), climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and safety testing requirements.
