This contract role will play a key part in supporting the migration and ongoing operation of a high-visibility machining cell (cone cell) on the manufacturing floor. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong CNC knowledge, the ability to troubleshoot and debug processes on the fly, and a collaborative mindset for working with union machinists in a production environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the relocation and setup of cone cell fixtures within the plant
- Spend 50–60% of time on the shop floor ensuring cone cell performance and uptime
- Troubleshoot and resolve process or equipment issues in real time
- Support CNC machining and assembly operations, including root cause and corrective actions
- Design and implement fixtures to support machining and assembly activities
- Collaborate with hourly workforce to ensure successful machine startup and productivity
- Refine Standard Work documentation for assembly and machining departments
- Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, including setting up routings and packaging requirements
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality
- Act as a technical liaison for R&D, Quality, and Design Engineering teams
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering3–5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or production support environmentProven knowledge of CNC programming, setup, and operationExperience reading machining blueprints and using GD&TSkilled in 3D CAD design (Creo preferred) and 2D AutoCAD LTFamiliarity with manufacturing troubleshooting and continuous improvement methodsStrong communication skills and ability to work independently in a union environmentExperience with Okuma or Fanuc CNC controls a plusPLC diagnostics, industrial robotics, and plant layout experience preferredFamiliarity with metrology tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges)Flexibility to shift to 2nd shift (3 PM – 11 : 30 PM) if needed during the assignment (advance notice provided)All applicants applying for this job opening must be legally authorized to work in the United States and are required to have US residency at the time of application.
