Position Summary

Un Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for mortgage loan underwriting of general and complex residential loans ensuring compliance with appropriate Credit Union and secondary market investor standards. This will be accomplished by use of automated and manual underwriting standards while meeting American First and Secondary Market Investor guidelines. This position will provide necessary training to mortgage associates in the area of underwriting and processing. In addition, this position partners with brokers, loan originators or production staff to secure all required documents and p rovide service excellence.

This role requires a deep understanding of manual credit analysis and underwriting across a broad spectrum of loan types. The successful candidate will play a critical role in assessing borrower creditworthiness and ensuring our loan decisions align with investor and company guidelines.

Salary Range : $37.68 To $47.10 Hourly

The salary ranges for positions are based on current market industry studies as well as job evaluations. During the offer phase Management will determine the appropriate compensation within the compensation range based on experience, education and internal equity.

Qualifications

• 7+ years experience and / or education in residential mortgage processing and underwriting to include advanced experience in underwriting complex files with business tax returns.
• High School diploma or GED required. College level business courses preferred
• Advance knowledge of real estate loan terminology, documentation and underwriting guidelines.
• Advance knowledge of state and federal laws; compliance regulations for mortgage loans, including Secondary Market Investor sales and service guidelines.
• Proficient in the use of Freddie Mac Loan Prospector System and Fannie Mae Desktop Underwriter System.
• Knowledge of credit union operations, products, and services preferred
• Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills
• Analytical and problem-solving skills for credit, income, and collateral analysis; Ability to anticipate problems and find resolutions.
• Time management and organizational skills to rapidly adapt and respond to unscheduled events or changes, ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
• Ability to work independently with frequent interruptions and collaboratively within a team.
• Proficient on PC and working knowledge of word processing, spread sheet, Internet, automated underwriting, and mortgage origination software.
