Road Ranger, a growing multi-state Travel Center company, is seeking to add an IT Support Specialist to its IT Team!
We’re looking for an individual with direct hands-on experience supporting Windows 10 and 11 workstations, both software and hardware as well as a basic level of support & troubleshooting experience with related IT systems and processes such as user access, administration, software installation, printer mapping, switches and networking equipment.
The ideal candidate is passionate about technology and enjoys working with it.

Position Summary :
- The IT Support Specialist performs IT ticket handling, troubleshooting, and technical support to Road Ranger employees in our offices and stores.
- Working alongside your peers on the IT Operations team, your goal is to ensure Road Ranger can conduct business using its IT systems.
- When IT challenges arise, you bring your know-how and drive to help to resolve problems as efficiently as possible.
- You’re organized and able to follow, create, and update documentation.
- You are a good communicator, able to help end users understand, as well as able to effectively engage assistance from your peers when needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
Process inbound tickets, set priorities, assign, schedule, and communicate to requestors.Perform IT troubleshooting including diagnosing problems, making repairs, or securing resources needed if unable to make immediate repairs.Handle purchasing as needed for repairs, to replenish remote logistics stock, for end user equipment upgrades, and similar.Perform computer and retail store equipment (Point of Sale systems and similar) imaging and configuration.Perform in the IT on-call rotation.Every other week on-call on an emergency basis to Road Ranger personnel.This includes after-hours and weekend on call duties.Each week on-call includes a $300 per week on-call premium.Education & Experience :
Computer networking fundamentals.Using basic network commands like ping, nslookup, traceroute.Configuring IP addresses and troubleshooting basic network problems.Basic understanding of IP sub netting.PC tech supports fundamentals.Windows 10 desktop configuration and support, including understanding how to perform most Windows management functions relating to networking, printing, services, installed software.At least 2+ years’ experience in end-user IT support, including handling trouble tickets, working directly with end users and quickly integrating improvements sourced via applicable customer satisfaction surveys, etc.Other Qualifications :
Associates degree or greater with a computer or networking related area of study (preferred but not required) Support, Networking, Windows, or Security related IT certification or certifications Experience supporting Point of Sale systems Experience with multi-unit organizations After hours support provider Able to work on-site at our Schaumburg, IL office, M-F 8 AM – 5 PM Able to be on-call 24x7 (when it’s your turn in the rotation) Able to lift 50lbs Proven professionalism / ability to deal with frustrations and ambiguity while remaining focused on white glove customer service and timely issue resolution.Benefits :
