Qualifications
To qualify for a Motor Vehicle Operator (Materials Handler), your resume and supporting documentation must support :
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and that you have the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.
Selective Placement Factor : Must possess a valid state driver's license and Class-B commercial driver's license.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Physical Effort : Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and walking. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions and may be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods. Exerts moderate to heavy physical effort in the frequent handling of objects weighing over 50 pounds and the occasional handling of heavier objects, which are moved with weight handling equipment or assistance of other workers. May exert moderate to heavy physical effort in climbing on trucks to lower landing gears, cut seals, open container doors, and climb on trailers to load or tie down cargo. Exerts moderate physical effort in operating, turning, backing, and controlling vehicles which carry heavier loads.
Working Conditions : Work is performed inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Drivers work mostly outside and operate vehicles in all kinds of weather and traffic and are exposed to the danger of serious accidents. They are exposed to dirt, fumes, and to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones resulting from accidents while driving or from falling objects when loading and unloading the vehicle. Driving is done on and off base in all types of driving conditions. Work may expose individuals to the potential danger of explosives, radiation and biological or chemical contaminants. Work may require wearing personal protective gear such as steel-toed shoes, leather or rubber gloves, aprons, and dust masks.

Drug-Free Workplace : The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) has established a Drug-Free Federal Workplace Policy. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program ( ICTAP ) : If you are an eligible ICTAP applicant you may apply for special selection over other candidates for this position. To be well-qualified and exercise selection priority for this vacancy, displaced Federal employees must be rated at a score of 85 or higher for this position.
