JOB TITLE : Lead Behavioral Health Technician

DEPARTMENT : Residential Services

REPORTING TO : Behavioral Health Technician Supervisor

DATE : Rev. 10 / 2025

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Lead Behavioral Health supports clients in their daily living activities while also welcoming and orienting new residents, accompanying them to appointments, and ensuring proper documentation of important information. Responsibilities also include managing resources, training staff, addressing issues, and collaborating with the client and treatment team.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Welcome new residents to their assigned unit, providing unit orientation, reviewing the resident handbook, smoke / phone schedule, and ensuring that resident questions are answered in a compassionate, thorough manner. (Resident belonging inventory and check will be performed by BHTs)
  • Enter memo into resident Carelogic chart, addressing relayed information to BHT staff to ensure all shifts / BHTs are aware.
  • Ensure each unit has adequate linens available.
  • Train and shadow new BHT staff.
  • Monitor the resident’s self-administering medication.
  • Complete weekend vitals and SOWS with withdrawal management residents by 8 : 00 am.
  • First contact to address client / BHT problems in the unit.
  • Complete work timely and accurately.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrates effective and respectful communication with peers, residents, and managers.
  • Contributes to unit performance activities.
  • If additional assistance is needed for Behavioral Health Technicians, the Behavioral Health Technician Supervisor will aid.
  • Maintain admission / discharge data in Carelogic.
  • Perform rounds to ensure residents are where they are supposed to be during programming hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to navigate the unit computer, check emails, document reports into Carelogic, clock in and out for meals, perform daily scanning, and complete.
  • Complete assigned online learning and training by due dates.
  • Ability to communicate accurate information to the manager and other staff.

  • Demonstrate reliable attendance.
  • Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification
  • Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers; handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk, balance, stoop, kneel, and / or crouch. (The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 15 pounds).
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Keyboard data entry required.
