HR Generalist, Employee Relations & Compliance

Insomniac produces some of the most innovative, immersive music festivals and events in the world. Insomniac produces 10,000 concerts, club nights, and festivals for seven million attendees annually across the globe. Since its inception, Insomniac's events have taken place in 13 countries across five continents. The company's premiere annual event, Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, is the world's largest dance music festival and attracts more than 525,000 fans over three days. The company was founded by Pasquale Rotella and has been based in Los Angeles since it was formed in 1993.

Insomniac is looking for a HR Generalist, Employee Relations & Compliance who will be a trusted partner and steady hand in navigating the complex, human side of HR. You'll lead investigations, guide leaders through performance management, manage sensitive leave and accommodation requests, and ensure the company's policies and processes align with applicable laws and company values. You'll also own key compliance functions, including offboarding, workers' compensation, and policy oversight, while managing HR communication channels to ensure responses are accurate, timely, and compassionate. You'll further support HR systems and analytics, ensuring our data is clean, reliable, and used to drive meaningful decisions.

This role requires curiosity, confidence, and high emotional intelligence. We're looking for someone who reads people as well as they read data; steady under pressure, not easily swayed, and comfortable having the hard conversations that keep teams healthy and the business supported. This role reports into the Senior Director, Human Resources. This role is full time in office and travels to various locations as needed.

Responsibilities :

  • Employee Relations & Performance Management
  • Conduct thorough, impartial investigations and document findings with clarity and precision.

  • Partner with leaders to address performance issues and provide coaching for accountability and growth.
  • Identify behavioral trends and collaborate with HR leadership to address root causes.
  • Maintain confidentiality, fairness, and compliance throughout all employee interactions.
  • Leave of Absence (LOA) & Accommodations
  • Manage FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA, and FEHA requests end-to-end with empathy and accuracy.

  • Facilitate the interactive process and document all communications and outcomes.
  • Partner with managers to coordinate transitions before, during, and after leave.
  • Offboarding
  • Oversee exit logistics including communication, asset collection, and system access removal.

  • Conduct exit interviews and summarize insights for HR leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with final pay, benefits continuation, and reporting requirements.
  • Policy & Compliance
  • Draft, update, and maintain HR policies and procedures to reflect applicable labor law and company values.

  • Conduct audits to ensure adherence to internal standards and documentation practices.
  • Collaborate with Legal and HR leadership to ensure consistent interpretation and application of policy.
  • Workers' Compensation & Safety
  • Manage workers' compensation claim intake, documentation, and coordination with third-party administrators.

  • Track and report incidents and injuries; ensure compliance with OSHA and safety reporting.
  • Support return-to-work and modified duty programs.
  • Co-lead company-wide safety commission initiatives, ensuring standards are established and continually improved over time.
  • Group Email Management
  • Monitor and triage shared HR inboxes (including attendance-related communications), ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent responses.

  • Track attendance notifications and partner with leaders to ensure employees adhere to established attendance and call-out policies.
  • Hold individuals accountable for policy compliance and escalate recurring or unresolved issues appropriately.
  • Maintain tracking systems for response times, escalations, and resolution metrics to ensure transparency and follow-through.
  • HR Systems & Process Improvement
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity in HR data systems.

  • Partner with HR Ops and IT to identify opportunities for automation and process improvements.
  • Support internal reporting projects and annual compliance audits.
  • Enhance the department's analytics capabilities by developing data visualizations, reports, and dashboards.
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including significant exposure to employee relations, policy, compliance, and workforce matters
  • Proven experience conducting workplace investigations, conflict resolution, and managing disciplinary actions and terminations in compliance with laws and company policies
  • Strong working knowledge of California and federal employment laws (ADA, FMLA, CFRA, FEHA, PDL, OSHA)
  • Proven experience managing leaves of absence (LOA), accommodations, and workers' compensation cases
  • Exceptional judgement and ability to navigate ambiguity with professionalism, tact, and discretion
  • Highly organized with strong written communication and documentation skills, including documentation, reporting, and presenting information to leaders
  • Proficiency in HR systems such as Workday, Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets; comfort analyzing HR data and transforming it into actionable insights
  • Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize multiple sensitive cases simultaneously
  • HR certification (PHR or SHRM-CP or equivalent) preferred
  • Work Environment :

  • Must be willing to travel to and from all areas of California, Nevada, and Florida (approximately 25% travel)
  • Must be able to tolerate loud noise levels and busy environments
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs (chairs, tables, etc.)
  • May work in drastic temperature climates
  • May work during holidays, evening, and weekend hours, as required, to meet deadlines
