Position Summary :
Under the direction of the Director of Finance and HR, the bookkeeper is responsible for processing the day-to-day financial transactions of the parish. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate records of all payables and receivables, daily financial entries and reconciliations, as well as human resources support.
Essential Job Functions (Responsibilities)
Bookkeeping
- Responsible for offertory counting process, including recruiting, scheduling and training offertory counters
- Handles offertory deposits, record keeping, and calculates financial data for bulletin
- Responsible for all parish receipts, deposits and record keeping, including the preparation of all related journal entries
- Processes invoices and coordinates weekly check run
- Prepares bank reconciliations for all church bank accounts
- Reads postage meter and makes monthly journal entry
- Processes all donations and coordinates gift entry into donor database
- Processes monthly mass intentions and stipends
- Prepares and sends annual contribution statements to contributors
- Maintains A / P vendor files and journal entry files
- Coordinates and ensures compliance with document retention policies
- Other duties and projects, as assigned by Director of Finance and HR
- Completes various monthly account reconciliations.
Human Resources
Handles onboarding process for all new employeesMaintains all HR and payroll information in PaylocityMaintains personnel filesAssists Director of Finance and HR with processing of payrollCalculates benefit deductions for new or departing employeesCompletes reconciliation of benefit deductions and expensesSupports the administration of FMLA and other leave programsAssists with Worker’s Compensation claims, as neededServes as a resource for benefit and human resources questionsPrepares school contracts annuallyRequirements :
Education and Experience Requirements :
High school diploma or equivalentProficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)3-5 years of experience in general bookkeeping or accounting functions with various dutiesAttentive to detail, accuracy, and follow-throughCooperative and willing to assist othersPositive attitude and willingness to learnKnowledge of general accounting practicesStrong communication skillsBackground in Parish Soft Accounting a plusExperience in Paylocity a plusHours :
Required workdays are Mondays through Fridays
