Summary
The Service Line Coordinator works directly with frontline staff across multiple departments, in collaboration with the Perioperative Leadership team, directs flow of surgical patients and coordinates resources for a specified service providing guidance, clinical expertise, and mentoring to members of the health care team within the specialty while optimizing available resources to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities
- Areas of major responsibility include providing guidance, clinical expertise, and mentoring to members of the health care team within the specialty while optimizing available resources to achieve optimal patient outcomes as evidenced by on time starts, and turnover of OR cases, management of case carts, oversight of room setup and resource allocation.
- Implement strategies with leadership and surgeons to improve overall efficiency.
- Collaborates with the health care team to deliver efficient, safe and high-quality patient-focused care as evidenced by : on-time starts, room turnover, case cart management, and resource allocation.
- Participate in quality assessment and improvement programs to evaluate effectiveness of care delivered.
- Provide input in development of policies, procedures, standards of care and critical paths to promote positive patient outcomes.
- Facilitate staff development through interdisciplinary collaboration and education.
- Meet with new surgeons to ensure onboarding, preference cards, and supplies are understood.
- Review daily schedule of surgical procedures, assess patient care needs and assign staff accordingly.
- Coordinate with anesthesia floor coordinator to provide timely appropriate care to add-on patients based upon acuity.
- Communicate with Clinical Manager regarding daily plan, equipment, personnel, and surgeon needs.
- Ensure cases start at scheduled time and turnover times are within defined parameters.
- Maintain service line budgets and participate in development of department operational and capital budgets with emphasis on global needs of the department.
- Keep coordinators, staff and PACU apprised of schedule changes and pertinent information in a timely fashion.
- Inform surgeons about schedule changes impacting their scheduled time and communicate with patient significant others in the waiting room.
- Maintain simple, direct and clear verbal / written communication; meet daily with Clinical Manager to discuss plans and issues.
Minimum Qualifications
Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.Qualifications - Education
Must have current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island. Maintains an active CEU / Education file.Qualifications - Experience
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience with demonstrated clinical and leadership skills. Maintains mandatory skills; remains current in practice and technology; as an active member of AORN.Pay Range
$39.37-$78.74
