JOB SUMMARY
Provides career exploration opportunities to individuals interested in WIOA, On-the Job and Work Experience training. The Career Exploration Specialist will oversee the Career Exploration Virtual Reality Room which is designed to enhance career development for dislocated workers, youth, and individuals with disabilities. With the assistance of the specialist, participants will have the ability to determine skill gaps and acquire skills vital for their success in a rapidly evolving job market by navigating career paths. Work involves implementing plans, goals, strategies, deliverables, and timelines to meet objectives. Other work involves reporting and providing consultative and technical services to Education Service Centers, community partners, and employers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Provide career information and resources to participants, employers and school district staff.
- Develop career-related presentations and guides.
- Support and promote regional Career and Education activities and initiatives such as the South Plains Career Expo, the High Demand Job Training partnerships, and job fairs
- Coordinate with Vocational Rehabilitation counselors in providing career-related services to students with disabilities.
- Travel is required within the region and limited overnight travel may be required to attend regional, state, or national conferences, workshops, meetings, or training.
- Coordinated activities with WIOA staff.
- Document individuals enrolled, the number of individuals receiving career exploration training and the number of individuals completing career exploration training.
- Provide the required reports.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES :
Must have the ability to make presentations in large or small group settings, virtual and in-person.Introduce individuals to tools and resources available related to careers.Conduct individual career pathway exploration meetings.Participate in school events such as Open House or Parent Nights to provide career information and resources.Research current labor market trends to provide viable information to individuals.Use tools such as Canva, We Video, and PowerPoint to create engaging presentations and outreach materials.Must be knowledgeable of Microsoft Suite.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in human services, business, education, or a related field preferred.One additional year of full-time qualifying experience may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of college up to a maximum of two years.Four years of full-time work experience; preferably in the fields of education, workforce development or Career and Technical Education (CTE), preferably in gathering and reporting outcomesSPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :
Must Possess Ability to :Provide reliable self-transportation for regional travel and maintain a valid Texas driver's license or permit of appropriate classification and endorsement as required.
