Job description

Position Summary

Working independently, MECU’s Graphic Designer is responsible for developing high-quality, creative marketing campaigns, and deploying projects across the credit union’s advertising, marketing, and internal channels. The position oversees all creative assets across all platforms where MECU is present. Works with both internal and external contacts during the creative process from concept through implementation for all printed and digital projects. Partners with other business units to craft accurate and engaging marketing materials. Manages company brand internally and in vendor relationships to ensure MECU is represented consistently and accurately.

Work Location

This position is located at Corporate Headquarters. Employees in this role may apply for a hybrid work schedule after the successful completion of their 90-day conditional period. Approval is subject to performance, department needs, and manager’s discretion.

Education

  • High School Diploma – Required
  • General Education Degree (GED) – in lieu of H.S. Diploma – Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or similar - Required

Experience

  • Three (3) years in Graphic Design, Marketing, or Advertising - Required
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) - Required
  • Strong creative portfolio demonstrating relevant work - Required
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines - Required
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills - Required
  • Communications and / or marketing - Preferred
  • Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Design artwork for digital and print media such as campaigns and promotions, social media posts, advertisements and sponsorships, brochures, signage, and other pieces within brand guidelines to engage audiences across marketing channels.
  • Own the organization’s brand identity, managing all aspects of the brand throughout marketing and other materials, apparel, and premiums. Manage inventory and distribution of premiums, signage, and promotional materials for events.
  • Support MECU events with engaging creative and maintain timelines and art deadlines.
  • Own external-facing letters, forms, and notices for brand identity, tone, and language.
  • Write, edit, proofread, and / or design internal communications to keep staff informed of all marketing efforts via email and the company intranet, with accurate information and materials.
  • Collaborate within the Marketing Communications department to brainstorm, develop, and execute marketing campaigns and events while upholding a professional attitude and positive approach.
  • Contribute to communication and positive relationships with agencies, printers, mailing houses and other vendors.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget. Periodically evaluate existing supplier relationships for pricing and quality.
  • Participate in meetings and represent the department in interdepartmental initiatives.
  • Act as the first point of contact for all incoming marketing requests.
  • Position requires occasional work after hours and on weekends.
  • Assist with other projects as assigned.
  • Competencies Required

  • Design : Create visually appealing graphics for advertising campaigns, website, mobile app, social media, events, and other marketing materials. Follow design, financial industry, and credit union regulatory best practices. Maintain and apply brand standards across all designs.
  • Production Management : Prioritize, organize, and complete work. Coordinate the creation and production of assets with project management, internal stakeholders, and vendors to ensure quality and on-time delivery.
  • Writing Skills : Use advanced knowledge of English language structure, grammar, and spelling to communicate effectively and proofread copy.
  • Compensation

    Salary Range per hour, depending on experience and qualifications

  • $27.40 – $41.15

  • Physical Demands

    The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The candidate may sit for long periods, use hands and fingers to handle objects, talk and hear. Occasional standing, walking, reaching, stooping or kneeling.
