Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Washington, DC 20007 – Ideal for nurses seeking DC healthcare jobs with access to world-class museums, scenic parks, and a lively city atmosphere.

Start Date : January 12, 2026

End Date : May 4, 2026

Contract Length : 16 weeks

Shift : Day shifts, 12 hours (07 : 00 - 19 : 30)

Hours per Week : 36

Weekend Requirement : Every other weekend

Patient Ratio : 1 : 5-6

Charting System : Cerner (preferred for Med / Surg nursing jobs)

Scrubs : Any color accepted (no hospital logo required)

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1570 - $1680

Med / Surg RN Qualifications

Active DC Registered Nurse (RN) license (pending license accepted with proof at submission; must have license in hand prior to start date)

BLS certification required

Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Surgical RN experience (will consider candidates with 1.5+ years of steady Med / Surg experience)

At least one prior travel nurse assignment completed

Proficiency with Cerner electronic charting system

Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed

Two supervisor references required

Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with diverse medical-surgical diagnoses

Administer blood products and manage central lines, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and IVs

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV therapy, physical therapy, respiratory, pharmacy, radiology, and social services

Maintain accurate patient documentation using Cerner

Participate in self-scheduling and work every other weekend as required

Float to other medical-surgical units as needed

Foster a supportive, patient-centered environment in the hospital
