NOTICE : The City of Sharonville has a vacancy in the classification of Fitness Center Supervisor. This is a full-time position. For recruitment purposes and to accurately reflect revised job duties, this position will be advertised under the title Recreation Supervisor.

WAGES AND BENEFITS : Wages and benefits are very competitive. The pay rate for newly hired employees will be based on skills, education, job knowledge, and abilities. The current pay range is $18.00 per hour to $33.99 per hour. Paid vacation time, paid sick leave, an excellent retirement system, and other generous benefits will be discussed during the interview process.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Each applicant must (1) be least 18 years of age as of the date of their application for employment OR (2) be able to demonstrate a combination of training, education, and / or experience which demonstrates an understanding of customer service and problem solving.

POSITION DESCRIPTION :

The City of Sharonville is seeking an energetic, self-directed recreation professional to serve as a Recreation Supervisor . This full-time leadership position works closely with the Assistant Recreation Director to plan, organize, supervise, and manage daily operations of the Fitness Center, Personal Training, and Wellness Programs. Additionally, the Recreation Supervisor will assist in the overall daily operations of the Community Center as a Manager on Duty.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.; additional education preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, demonstrate empathy, and respond to the needs of staff and facility guests.
  • Experience in staff supervision, program and staff development, training, equipment management, fitness trends, and operations preferred.

PREFERENCES :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation, Business Management / Administration, Public Administration, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in the fitness industry.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience, including training and recruiting fitness staff and managing site operations.
  • Experience as a personal trainer and / or group fitness instructor.
  • Experience in aquatics.
  • Experience with RecTrac or similar recreation management software.
  • Ability to empower creative problem solving.
  • Ability to influence, support, and motivate others.
  • LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :

  • CPR / AED Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Accredited Group Fitness Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (for purposes of 42 USC 12101) :

  • Plan, organize, and supervise daily operations of the Fitness Center, Personal Training, and Wellness Programs.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty for the Community Center, assisting with overall daily operations.
  • Lead, train, and supervise fitness and recreation staff.
  • Maintain clear and open communication between staff and management.
  • Deliver excellent internal and external customer service.
  • Promote safety, cleanliness, and proper use of equipment in all programs and facilities.
  • Stay informed on fitness trends and make recommendations to enhance programs.
  • Assist with scheduling, budgeting, and program development as directed.
  • Ensure compliance with City policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support operations and program success.
  • OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Knowledge of : City policies and procedures; facility rules and regulations; fitness and recreation program operations; staff supervision; basic equipment maintenance; and safety standards.
  • Skilled in : Customer service; staff training and supervision; program development; use of light fitness and recreation equipment; basic office equipment; and multitasking.
  • Ability to : Lead and motivate a team; communicate clearly and courteously with staff and guests; manage multiple priorities; maintain professionalism under stress; problem-solve creatively; and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Physical Demands : Occasionally bend, lift, and carry equipment and supplies up to 30 pounds; maintain mobility to move throughout the facility; perform light cleaning and maintenance tasks. This position is considered medium work under U.S. Department of Labor strength ratings.
  • WORK SCHEDULE :

    Weekends and weeknights; schedule varies based on operational needs.
