We are seeking a full-time Business Development Project Manager (BDPM) to drive growth, manage commercial operations, and build strong client relationships in support of Curi Bio’s contract research services (Therapeutic Assays department). This hybrid role is critical for the organization, combining client-facing business development, scientific project scoping, and project management to advance our mission of providing high-quality cell and tissue models and customized solutions for drug discovery and therapeutic testing. The CRO services division is a major growth opportunity for 2025 and beyond. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive Business Development & Scope New Projects :
- Serve as the scientific lead on qualified leads provided by the internal BD team.
- Engage with potential clients (pharmaceuticals, biotechs, research institutions) to deeply understand their drug discovery needs and research goals.
- Scope new projects by developing tailored scientific proposals, ensuring alignment with Curi Bio’s expertise in iPSC, primary cell, 3D engineered tissue, and disease models.
- Finalize contracts to formalize new studies.
Actively Manage Services Pipeline :
Work with the business development team to manage a robust services pipeline and meet revenue targets.Leverage CRM tools to manage leads, track opportunities, and report on key metrics and insights for internal stakeholders.Client Relationship & Project Management :
Serve as the primary operational point of contact and client liaison from project inception to completion.Cultivate strong, long-term relationships, managing client expectations through timely and effective communication.Oversee and coordinate client projects with the Sr. Director R&D and Curi Bio scientists, ensuring efficient execution and delivery of results.
Partner with internal teams to manage timelines, allocate resources, and address any challenges proactively.Manage contracts, reporting, and invoicing, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.Drive Follow-on Business :
Proactively engage with clients on completed projects to identify and secure follow-on contracts and expanded work.Leverage successful study outcomes and strong client relationships to generate sustained, long-term revenue growth.IDEAL QUALIFICATION & CHARACTERISTICS
Education : Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a relevant life sciences field.Experience : Proven success in business development, sales, or scientific customer-facing roles in the life sciences, pharmaceutical, or biotech sectors.Technical Expertise : Strong background in drug discovery, tissue engineering, stem cell biology, or related fields. Familiarity with technical instrumentation and assay development is highly desirable. Experience managing and communicating project timelines and budgets.Independence : Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a dynamic environment.Organizational Skills : Strong capacity to manage complex contracts and partnerships, ensuring efficiency and alignment with business objectives.Interpersonal Skills : Collaborative team player with the ability to engage with stakeholders across all levels of an organization – from C level to early scientists, academic through large pharma.Culture Fit : Passion for innovation, moving science forward and a “small company” work ethic (comfortable wearing “multiple hats”).
