Job Summary :

The CVOR Surgical Technologist is responsible for assisting the surgical team during cardiovascular and thoracic procedures , ensuring a sterile environment, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon to facilitate safe and efficient operations. This role also includes supporting other surgical cases when cardiac procedures are not scheduled.

Job Summary :

The CVOR Surgical Technologist is responsible for assisting the surgical team during cardiovascular and thoracic procedures, ensuring a sterile environment, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon to facilitate safe and efficient operations. This role also includes supporting other surgical cases when cardiac procedures are not scheduled.

Key Responsibilities :

Prepare and maintain the sterile field before, during, and after surgical procedures.

Assist in complex cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular surgeries, including open-heart and bypass procedures.

Ensure all surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment are sterilized and functioning properly.

Anticipate surgeon and procedural needs to ensure seamless surgical flow.

Handle specimens, count sponges, needles, and instruments according to protocol.

Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.

Participate in cardiac call rotation and respond promptly to emergency procedures.

Support other surgical specialties when cardiac cases are not scheduled.

Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and nursing staff to promote optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements :

Experience :

Minimum 18 months of CVOR experience required.

2+ years preferred, with strong cardiac and vascular surgery experience.

Certifications :

National certification required : NBSTSA (CST) or NCCT (TS-C).

BLS (Basic Life Support) required.

Cardiac Call : Required.

Weekend Requirement : To be discussed during interview.

First-Timers : Accepted (with strong experience).

Preferred Qualifications :

3+ years of CVOR and vascular surgical experience.

Proficiency in handling complex cardiac cases (CABG, valve replacements, aortic repairs).

Ability to function independently and adapt in a fast-paced OR environment.

Experience with EMR and surgical tracking systems.
