TITLE : Mental Health Therapist – Part-time
STATUS : Part-time; Non-Exempt
PAY : $50 - $75 / hour
REPORTS TO : Chief Program Officer

Our programs include Camp Connect, Guardian Scholars, Foster Futures, Mentoring and Foster Funds.
We are seeking a LCSW, LMFT or LPCC, to provide development and ongoing evaluation of mental health treatment plans for young adult and adult former foster youth. The Therapist will provide individual and group services utilizing evidence-based, evidence-informed, and promising best practices for the youth served. The Therapist takes a strength-based, trauma informed, culturally relevant, and client centered approach to working with youth. The Therapist will be required to provide services in the evenings and on weekends.
RESPONSIBILITES :
- Develop and implement new therapeutic model for clients participating in Guardian Scholars program.
- Establish collaboration with Guardian Scholars program while maintaining client confidentiality.
- Demonstrate clinical skill in assessment / evaluation and treatment, crisis intervention while working with complex, multiple diagnosis histories.
- Partners with youth to complete a mental health treatment plan that includes the youth’s goals and preferences for mental health services to meet the needs of the youth.
- Partner with youth in identifying obstacles to meeting educational, vocational, social, and independent living goals. Develop strategies to overcome these barriers.
- Provide crisis intervention and case management as needed, which may be needed outside of regular business hours on occasion.
- Ensure program complies with all federal, state, and county regulations.
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions.
- Provides facilitation and support to enhance the efforts of youth in the design and implementation of evidence-based treatment.
- Ensure the health and safety of all clients.
- Ensures that documentation and maintenance of clinical records is completed per appropriate standards and regulations.
- This position is expected to maintain flexibility in scheduling and is expected to work evenings and weekends to be available to meet participants’ needs.
- Other duties as assigned to ensure the safety and well-being of each youth.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family therapy, or related field required; andCurrently licensed in the State of California as a LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or comparable license required.Experience working with foster youth who may be experiencing drug and alcohol dependency, suicidal ideation, and domestic violence preferred.Experience with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) preferred.Extensive experience managing in a multidisciplinary team and sustaining various aspects of program activities.Ability to effectively interview and clinically respond to the needs of clients including assessing suicide and substance abuse.Ability to communicate in writing to develop and prepare case management documentation, safety plans, psycho-social assessments, treatment plans, correspondence, and reports.Ability to partner with youth to implement person-centered, needs-driven, strengths-based, and culturally relevant services.Proficiency in computer skills, including entire MS Office Suite.Demonstrate professional writing skills.Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with a variety of people and represent Promises2Kids in a positive and professional manner to all staff, visitors, donors, and the community.Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and to complete and report on assignments.Ability to work under pressure, set priorities and meet deadlines.Able to work as part of a close-knit team.Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality, diplomacy and tact.Ability to pay attention to detail and also remain oriented to the “big picture” and established goals.Excellent organizational, management, and problem-solving skills.Must be able to successfully pass the child abuse clearance, fingerprinting, and background check.Must possess reliable personal transportation, current driver’s license in good standing, car registration, and auto insurance.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
