What does a Children's Advocacy Center Manager do?

The Children's Advocacy Center Manager at The Resource Connection of Amador & Calaveras Counties, Inc. plays a vital role in supporting child victims of abuse and ensuring the integrity of the multi-disciplinary approach to investigations. Under the supervision of the Director, this position is responsible for overseeing daily operations, maintaining compliance with county protocols, and fostering relationships with partner agencies.

The manager will empower the community by providing essential education and resources, ensuring that children receive the necessary support throughout the criminal justice process. Additional responsibilities include training staff and volunteers, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate services, and tracking case data to enhance the effectiveness of the center. The manager will also assist in grant writing and monitoring to secure funding, ensuring that program objectives are met on time and within budget, all while championing the vision and mission of the Children's Advocacy Center.

Would you be a great Children's Advocacy Center MANAGER?

To be successful as the Children's Advocacy Center Manager, candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, or a related field, with a strong preference for experience within a Child Advocacy Center environment. A minimum of three years in supervisory or leadership roles, along with a similar amount of experience working with children and families affected by abuse and trauma, is essential. Candidates should have a sound understanding of child trauma and victimization issues, complemented by proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Microsoft Access databases. Strong interpersonal skills are crucial for cultivating professional relationships, alongside the ability to hold oneself and others accountable. The ideal candidate must be resourceful and capable of addressing problems creatively while managing multiple deadlines.

Excellent communication skills, a passion for helping children, and comfort dealing with sensitive issues are critical for this role, as is the ability to navigate ambiguity effectively.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are :

  • Bachelor's in social work and child maltreatment counseling human service or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a Child Advocacy Center environment strongly favored
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in supervisory / leadership roles
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience working with children and families who have experienced abuse and trauma.
  • A sound knowledge of child trauma and victimization issues
  • Displays leadership and professional integrity
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrates ability to hold self and others accountable
  • Passion for helping children and families and comfort dealing with issues of trauma and abuse o A "people person" with outstanding interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to cultivate and sustain a wide professional network
  • Ability to work independently prioritize and meet multiple deadlines and demands
  • Ability to identify and address problems quickly and creatively
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and shaping anew organizational position and role
  • Genuine interest in and comfort with data and systems - familiarity working with Microsoft Access databases a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Remain in a seated position for up to eight hours and move about office to perform duties
  • Lift and carry objects up to 30 pounds
