About The Position

Job Title : Clinical Nurse

Profession : Registered Nurse

Shift : Day Shift

Hours per Shift : 12.5 hours (7 AM - 7 : 30 PM)

Experience : Minimum of 2 years in Psychiatric Emergency Services

License : Client RN License

Certifications : BLS, CPI

Must-Have : Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.

Description :

The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe and competent quality care.

Care is based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and their significant others.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

PATIENT CARE

Delivers patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care.

Utilizes the nursing process based on theory, research, and evidence-based practice.

Assesses and evaluates patient care needs while applying critical thinking skills in patient care management.

Integrates relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care.

Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care.

Prioritizes all aspects of patient care, including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning after hospital care.

Educates patients and caregivers about their plan of care, transition of care, promotion of health, and prevention of disease.

Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, their families, and all members of the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team.

Manages assignments effectively within the Care Delivery Model.

PATIENT EXPERIENCE

Models the tenets of Relationship Centered Care through specific key actions.

Considers the patient's values, preferences, cultural diversity, and expressed needs in all aspects of care.

Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family.

Uses evidence-based practices to understand patients' perceptions of care.

Initiates service recovery for patients and family members with concerns.

Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening in all interactions.

Supports staff use of evidence-based practices to improve understanding of patients' perceptions of care.

Conducts purposeful rounding on assigned patients addressing key patient needs.

QUALITY AND SAFETY

Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care by identifying barriers and opportunities for improvement.

Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in the patient population served.

Implements process improvement strategies based on evidence and institutional practices.

Engages in peer and institutional review processes.

Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to implement quality improvement projects.

Contributes to compliance measures related to quality and safety practices.

Implements high reliability principles to maintain a safe environment for patients.

Escalates potential safety hazards or gaps in practice following established protocols.

Utilizes technology to document nursing practices supporting quality improvement initiatives.

OPERATIONS

Performs charge nurse duties as assigned.

Coordinates with leadership to ensure supplies are appropriately utilized for patient care.

Escalates resource deficits to appropriate nursing leadership.

Documents accurately and thoroughly in compliance with regulatory and legal standards.

Facilitates patient throughput on a shift basis.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Contributes to the environment of care to support clinical colleagues, patients, and families.

Advances clinical competence to progress within nursing practice.

Projects a professional image while communicating with respect, compassion, and empathy.

Incorporates ethical principles into decisions regarding patient and family care.

Encourages a spirit of inquiry, lifelong learning, and innovation.

Participates in decision-making through practice councils and unit initiatives.

Education :

Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.

An associate degree in nursing considered with relevant experience or current enrollment in a BSN program.

CPI or PMCS certification required.
