Firefighter / Paramedic
The City of South Lake Tahoe is recruiting for Firefighter / Paramedics. Preference will be given to lateral Firefighter / Paramedic candidates with at least one year of Firefighting / Paramedic experience. A paramedic license is required for this position.
Incentive pays include : Holiday Pay, Education Incentive Pay, Bilingual Pay, 457 Match up to $3,000 (after completion of probation).

Selection process includes : 1) Candidates must be on the Firefighter Candidate Testing Center's Statewide Eligibility List and meet minimum qualifications. 2) Application review and screening. 3) Eligible list. 4) Background investigation and pre-employment testing. Required documents include : current valid California or Nevada driver's license or equivalent, current valid Cal-JAC Candidate Physical Ability Test or BIDDLE physical capabilities test certificate, current valid CPR Professional Rescuer through AHA / ARC or County approved equivalent, and current valid CA EMT-P license.
Education and experience guidelines include : equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, one year of firefighting experience is desirable, and various certifications including CA Class B or A motor vehicle operator's license, HAZ-MAT FRO certificate, Firefighter 1 and Firefighter II certifications, CPR Professional Rescuer, and CA EMT-P license.
The job involves working in reactive emergency, natural or man-made disaster, and peace keeping environments with exposure to various hazards and the need for physical ability and specialized skills.
