Jefferson RISE Charter School, founded by seven community members in 2014, will serve just under 800 students in grades 6-12 for the 2025-2026 school year. Located in Harvey, Louisiana, the school caters to a diverse student body from the Westbank of Jefferson Parish, consisting of 59% Black / African American, 24% White, 15% Hispanic, and 2% Asian students, with 87% qualifying as economically disadvantaged.

Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Health Sciences / EMR Teacher to join our Career and Technical Education (CTE) team. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore pathways in emergency medical response, health careers, and medical foundations while equipping them with the skills and certifications that open doors to future opportunities. This teacher will emphasize hands-on learning, industry connections, and career readiness, preparing students for post-secondary education, workforce entry, or industry certification.
We are looking for educators who are reflective, collaborative, and student-focusedteachers who not only teach health science content but also model professionalism, empathy, and a growth mindset.
Instruction & Curriculum Design
Design and deliver engaging lessons in Emergency Medical Response (EMR), Introduction to Health Careers, Medical Foundations, and Louisiana Intro to Health.Integrate hands-on labs, simulations, case studies, and industry-relevant scenarios into instruction.Differentiate instruction to meet a wide range of learners, from students exploring health careers to those pursuing certification.Incorporate project-based learning, technology, and performance-based assessments to deepen understanding.Classroom Culture & Student Engagement
Foster a classroom environment that emphasizes teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving.Establish clear routines and expectations to ensure a safe and respectful learning space, especially during skill-based or lab activities.Encourage students to explore health-related career pathways and build confidence in their abilities.Maintain strong classroom management aligned with school-wide practices.Collaboration & School Culture
Participate in collaborative planning, interdisciplinary projects, and professional development.Partner with local health organizations or industry professionals to connect students with real-world experiences.Support the broader school community by modeling professionalism, positivity, and high expectations.Data & Communication
Use student performance data to guide instruction and support growth.Provide timely, clear communication with families regarding student progress, performance, and opportunities for advancement.Accurately document student attendance, grades, certifications, and other relevant records.Candidate Profile
Education and Certification :
Bachelors degree requiredHealth Science, Nursing, EMT / Paramedic, or related field (preferred)Louisiana teaching certification or willingness to pursue certification (preferred)EMR / EMS certification or healthcare industry experience (preferred)Experience and Skills :

RISE employees are paid twice a month on the 15th and last day of each month.
Jefferson RISE pays the following employee-only benefit costs for all full-time employees : coverage 85% of medical premiums and 100% of dental, vision, short and long term disability premiums. The Employee covers the remaining costs, including 15% employee medical and all spouse / dependent costs. RISE provides a 401(k) retirement plan to all W-2 employees, including a match of up to 100% of contributions on the first 3% deferred, then 50% of contributions from 3% to 5%. There is no vesting period. Jefferson RISE reserves the right to offer different or additional benefits to the Employee at any time.
