Job Summary :
The Registered Nurse ensures that injectable medication is safely administered to all outpatient clients as ordered and, utilizes the nursing process (assessment, diagnoses, plan, implement and evaluate) to the procedures and protocols of the Long Acting Injection (LAI) clinic.
The Registered Nurse builds rapport and positive relationships with clients receiving LAI medication, improves the operations of KMHS in support of its stated mission, and provides the highest level of customer service to internal and external customers.
General Summary of Duties :
Participate in the planning, continued development and monitoring of the LAI outpatient clinic according to evidenced based standards and nursing best practice.Assess each client for side effects related to LAI medication. Report any significant concerns to ordering provider. Document all findings in electronic health record.Provide education and support to clients regarding the benefits and efficacy of LAI medication.Document appropriately and, when needed, provide client feedback to providers and outpatient teams.Administer LAI medication as ordered in the outpatient environment. Document injection in the electronic health record.Document and report any client refusal of medication and missed appointments. Inform outpatient team and medical provider prior to end of workday.Participate & collaborate with the outpatient team to ensure LAI clinic operates at the highest level of quality.Participate in training and teaching of KMHS nurses and medical assistants regarding the process and procedures of the LAI clinic. Maintain contact with trained nurses for coverage as needed.If requested, participate with planning and implementing modifications of the LAI clinic to support the administration of newer medications that require enhanced monitoring (i.e. Spravato).In addition to the above, any other responsibilities appropriate to the position and not specifically listed in the job description.Supervisory Responsibilities : None
Minimum Qualifications :
EDUCATION : Associates degree in Nursing.
EXPERIENCE : Entry level (no prior related work experience)
LICENSURE : Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse license in Washington State. Active and unencumbered multistate practical nurse license accepted with additional training requirements
Preferred Qualifications :
EDUCATION : Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
EXPERIENCE : Two years' experience in one of the following environments : Adult, Adolescent or Child Inpatient Mental Health, and / or Substance Use Disorder treatment.

Equipment Operated : Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc. Use of blood pressure cuffs, thermometers, syringes, needles, scales, etc.
Work Environment : Office, outpatient clinic.
Mental / Physical Requirements : While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, ascend and descend stairs, talk or listen and lift up to 50 pounds. Peripheral vision is also required for this position. Frequent mobility and / or sitting required for extended periods.
