Dental Assistant 1 Or 2
LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry Oral Surgery Department is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Dental Assistant 1 or 2. These positions are in a Career Progression Group. As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a (Dental Assistant 1 or 2) depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s).
This position does not require applicants to take a Civil Service test. Pre-employment Drug testing and Criminal Background check are required. This position will require selected applicant to be in a probationary status for at least 6 months. Job Duties And Other Information
Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to : To provide chair side assistance to a licensed oral surgeon, resident, and undergrad students in oral surgery. A. assist oral surgeon and dental student with chair side treatment of patients B. maintain stock cabinet C. Instruct and evaluate student in proper four handed dentistry techniques D. Chart patients according to LSUSD systems (Axium / WinOMS computer knowledge) E. Give follow-up home instructions as directed by dentist or student F. Implement and maintain infection control in the work area G. Check inventory and order supplies when needed H Implement and follow safety guidelines as set forth by LSUHSC School of Dentistry and OSHA I. Know dental terminology J. Know correct nomenclature of all dental instruments Core competencies include : Communicating effectively : The ability to relay information correctly and appropriately to connect people and ideas.
