Job Description : Overview :

St. Matthew School, a vibrant and faith-filled PreK–8 Catholic school in Northeast Philadelphia, is seeking a passionate and dedicated full-time Music Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children across a range of ages, a strong foundation in music education, and a collaborative spirit that aligns with our Catholic mission and community values.

Responsibilities :

Provide general music instruction to students in grades PreK through 8 on a weekly basis.
Direct and lead the student chorus, including rehearsals and performances.
Coordinate and support music for the school musical in collaboration with other staff and volunteers.
Plan and produce two major concerts per year : a Winter Concert and a Spring Concert.
Assist in organizing and providing musical support for school prayer services and Masses.
Help create the musical ambiance for a variety of school celebrations.
Coordinate and organize various school assemblies, including the annual school talent show.
Participate in school coverage duties (e.g., lunchroom, recess, arrival / dismissal supervision).

Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field.

Valid Pennsylvania K–12 Music Education Certification (preferred).

Demonstrated experience teaching music to children in a classroom or ensemble setting.

Familiarity with a variety of musical genres, instruments, and vocal techniques.

Strong classroom management skills and ability to engage students of all ages.

Commitment to fostering a love of music and nurturing student creativity.

Ability to collaborate with colleagues and communicate effectively with parents.

Preferred Skills :

Piano proficiency and willingness to accompany or offer piano lessons (not required).
