A respected long-term care facility in the Bronx is seeking a dedicated and experienced Food Service Director to lead its dietary department. Position Overview:
The Food Service Director will oversee all aspects of the dietary department, including menu planning, food preparation, staff supervision, and compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will bring leadership experience from a nursing home or long-term care setting and a strong understanding of the dietary needs of older adults.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of the dietary department
- Develop and implement menus that align with nutritional guidelines and resident preferences
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local food safety and sanitation regulations
- Supervise, train, and schedule dietary staff
- Maintain inventory and manage food and supply orders within budget
- Collaborate with clinical teams to meet special dietary needs
- Conduct regular quality assurance and sanitation inspections
- Address resident and family feedback regarding dietary services
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in dietary management, preferably in a long-term care or nursing home setting
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or equivalent credential preferred
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of dietary regulations and food safety standards
- Experience with budget management is a plus
