The City of Falls Church is recruiting for a permanent, full-time (40 hours per week) Public Safety Aide. Public Safety Aides are unarmed, civilian police employees with no arrest powers primarily focused on parking enforcement and school crossings. The incumbent for this position will work in the police department for the City of Falls Church, Virginia. Responsibilities :

• The Public Safety Aide is primarily responsible for traffic safety, customer service, parking enforcement, and school crossing duties.
• Assists sworn public safety officers in the field and enforces the City's parking regulations.
• Ensures safe and clear passage for children to and from public schools.
• Checks vehicle display of property tax stickers and assists with vehicle impounding as necessary.
• Operates an assigned motor vehicle and towing equipment trailer.
• Works outdoors in all types of weather for extended periods.
• Regulates vehicular traffic at designated crossings to allow children to cross safely.
• Assists bus drivers, parents, vehicle operators, police, and school staff.
• Attends meetings, gives statements, provides reports, and appears in court as necessary.
• Regulates traffic at special events and performs miscellaneous duties to assist with other department activities.
• Performs accurate data collection and entry into computers, and completes violations and summonses.
• Prepares various reports and utilizes police communication equipment.
• Exercises considerable independent judgment and initiative.
• Performs related tasks as required.
