Life Skills Development Coach / Vocational Recreational Coordinator
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Direct experience working with adolescents
- High School Diploma or equivalent (copy required upon hire)
- Valid New York State Driver's License (copy required upon hire)
- Yearly Physical (required within one month after the hire)

POSITION OBJECTIVES
Under the supervision of the RTA Program Director, this position is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising all functions pertaining to life skill development, vocational, and recreational activities for the RTA youth.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB
Develop and create vocational opportunities both on and off-campus for the RTA youth. Interaction with all vocational instructors to ensure that the RTA youth are receiving appropriate services and planning any future endeavors once they reintegrate into the community.Develop resumes with residents and assist them in the process of applying for employment. This includes reaching out to their local employment career centers.Assist residents in obtaining specialized career training and certifications when applicable.Responsible for the guidance and general oversight of all day-to-day operations of the Vocational Program including, but not limited to, assisting the Vocational Instructors in the following areas : assessment of student's vocational development according to their IEP and curriculum in collaboration with the school district, develop appropriate vocational and post-secondary goals / objectives, collect and maintain accurate vocational records, explore new and innovative opportunities for youth, provide and implement appropriate behavior and safety management plans when necessary.Obtain birth certificate and social security cards upon entering the program.Provide credit checks to each resident.Obtain New York State ID and / or permit.Complete the Casey Lifeskill Assessment for each resident and provide additional support in areas of weakness.Obtain, develop, and implement volunteer opportunities for residents both on and off campus.Facilitate a weekly ILS group with each program once per week, using the ILS curriculum. Provide Individuals twice per month with each resident and more as necessary.Participate in treatment plans. The ILS instructor is also responsible for providing written updates to these plans.Update all ILS notes in connections. This includes any group or individual contact, along with prudent parenting notes.Participate in weekly staff meetings.Will assist in agency-wide planning and coordinating of therapeutic leisure activities which are designed to enrich the youth's developmentServe as a role model for residents in all activities. Communicate significant student / resident behavior to the appropriate personnel in a timely and factual manner. Observe and practice community standards and regulations.Perform other duties as assigned by the RTA Program Director.Responsible for adhering to and performing all duties in accordance with, the practice and policy of The William George Agency. This includes but is not limited to, a review of The William George Agency Safety Policy and attending all required safety-related training.REPORTS TO : RTA Program Director

It is a private not-for-profit residential treatment center licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) that serves both male and female youth between the ages of 12 and 21, and their families, who present with significant mental health issues, behavioral difficulties, and substance abuse issues.
