We have an immediate opening in the Charleston, WV area for an experienced Transportation Construction Manager to oversee large-scale West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) and local government projects, including both design-bid-build and design-build work. This role offers the chance to lead a talented construction staff and make a direct impact on roadway and bridge projects that shape the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage construction activities both in the field and in the office.
• Lead and mentor construction staff, ensuring proper training and adherence to project standards.
• Interpret and enforce contract plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
• Oversee documentation, maintain construction records, and ensure contract compliance.
• Review contractor schedules, including initial CPM and monthly updates.
• Resolve field conflicts and disputes efficiently.
• Coordinate and conduct project meetings.
• Maintain regular, clear communication with the Engineer, Owner, operational staff, and field teams.
• Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, including the traveling public.
• Monitor and enforce project safety requirements.
• Perform field inspections as needed.

Qualifications

BS in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or similar technical degree plus 7 years of technical experience; OR

Physical Requirements (Essential Functions) :

This position requires the ability to perform a variety of physical tasks in the field as part of the essential job functions. Duties may include :

The work environment may include exposure to a range of environmental conditions, including high and low temperatures, precipitation, and other outdoor elements. Work may also be performed in noisy conditions or confined / enclosed spaces.
