NJFC operates three production facilities : Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.
We are looking for a Sr. Manufacturing Operations Manager to be responsible for managing the plant and product line production activities in a cannery across multiple shifts and departments to produce products that meet established quality, customer service, safety, sanitation, and cost metrics consistent with schedules and policies.
- Implements work standards and maintains improvement through sustaining behaviors, operating with discipline and rigor; oversees the production of quality products to fulfill customer requirements;
- controls and effectively utilizes the production capacity, labor and equipment and outside resources through planning, organizing and scheduling to maximize efficiency;
works within the framework of the budget to optimize company profitability. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and works under limited supervision.
This is a non-exempt position.
Key Responsibilities :
- Establishes manufacturing process and acts as the process authority for assigned areas, including approval and sign off on changes to any manufacturing process.
- Ensures all processes meet customer or specification requirements to minimize risk to the company and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
- Responsible to maintain a qualified and productive staff to meet and / or exceed the expected level of performance and demands of management and customers.
- Participates in the facility senior management team and accordingly has ownership of plant performance as a member of the team;
interacts in all areas of the plant as needed through participation on this team.
Develops and monitors continuous improvement methodology directed at improving performance in the departmental areas assigned, including productivity, quality, safety, attendance, sanitation, yields and cost reduction / control.
Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in production operations management, or related degree; or, any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the key responsibilities of this position.
- 10 years’ manufacturing management experience in tomato processing, including peeling and evaporation systems. Subject matter expert in tomato processing, which requires demonstrated leadership and management skills to include P&L responsibility and creating a high performance operation through the development of processes and people.
- 3 years’ supervisory experience, preferably in unionized environment.
- Mathematical / financial skills; highly literate in the preparation and management of numbers as it relates to preparing, projecting and managing financial performance, as well as food processing / engineering calculations.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check including employment and educational verification, credit screen, and work extended schedule and weekends during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.
Compensation :
The salary range is $140,400 - $175,000, based on experience and qualifications.
