ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safety Program Management
- Champion and lead projects designed to effectively drive improvements towards a zero incident safety culture
- Create and maintain all EHS programs, protocols and
- Lead investigations on safety and environmental non-compliance incidents and provide appropriate level of urgency to response to operational issues
- Ensure completion of routine preventative maintenance on safety systems
- Create and maintain comprehensive risk matrix and ensure programs are aligned
- Interact and partner with leadership team to execute programs and projects
- Provide safety focused guidance and lead resolution actions during crises
- Develop and implement accident prevention strategies
- Supports emergency preparedness planning including fire drills
- Regulatory Compliance
- Acts as primary point of contact for safety related standards for both internal and external inspections
- Ensure compliance with county, state and local regulations, including processing / filing regulatory permit, licensing, and reporting as necessary
- Coordinate / participate in environmental agency inspections
- Oversight of all aspects of hazardous waste management program
- Review, interpret and advise operators on actions to align and maintain compliance
- Conducts routine inspections and audits to identify potential safety hazards and ensures compliance with OSA, EPA, CAP and other relevant standards.
- Reporting & Metrics
- Maintains accurate records of safety training, inspections, non-conformances and chemical inventory
- Complete monthly metrics
- Ensure review of near misses, incidents, corrective actions
- Leads safety related reporting at Medical Director meeting
- Participate in continuous improvement activities and creates safety related improvement opportunity action plans.
- Determine leading / lagging indicators and track performance
- Safety Culture & Training
- Promote a culture of safe behaviors and mindset
- Responsible for EHS participation in events : Lab Week, National Safety Month, Fire Prevention Month, etc.
- Responsible for developing, maintaining and providing new teammate, annual and ongoing safety training
- Responsible for monitoring regulatory environment to identify new and changing requirements. Leads in implementation of safety regulatory changes.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Four or more years' experience with demonstrated knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations (OSHA, EPA) requiredBachelor's degree in a safety or environmental related field requiredExperience working in a laboratory setting and with chemical inventories preferredOSHA 30 preferredCertified Safety Professional requiredCPR / AED / First Aid / BBP Certification preferredThanks & Regards
