Job Description
In this role, the Crop Insurance Agent is responsible for managing a crop insurance book of business and the associated policyholder relationships. As part of the Federal Crop Insurance Program, the agent will be responsible for sales and service of these policies (new and existing) throughout the crop year. This includes staying current with insurance strategies; collecting, submitting, and verifying required insurance documents in a timely manner; clear and timely communication with insureds; and working with AIP representatives to ensure a smooth claims process as needed.

Manage day-to-day insurance needs of customer accounts, conducting business within rules, regulations, policy, and procedures of the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation and appropriate state departments.Provide outstanding crop insurance service and knowledge to new and existing customers, maintaining a positive relationship and experience for all customers, with frequent interactions and seasonal sales calls required.Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of crop and livestock insurance solutions available in the service area, attending updates and industry events.Demonstrate ability to navigate insurance sales tools and processing systems in a way that best illustrates the programs and concepts.Collaborate with other crop insurance department team members and DeLong personnel to grow additional company offerings, processes, etc.; identify prospective customers and perform joint visits as necessary.Act as a business partner to insurance customers and serve as a business resource throughout the year.Have knowledge of current Farm Bill / legislation and FSA programming.Perform basic office tasks and be flexible to work in different office settings (traditional and "on-farm").Key Attributes
Five or more years of crop insurance experience.Five or more years of previous experience in agricultural product sales / support.Strong understanding of agriculture and risk management within DeLong Company's footprint or identified growth area.Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.Passion for agriculture and desire to help protect America's farm families.Sales oriented with a strong work ethic.Proficient in organizing and prioritizing work to meet strict deadlines.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Desirable knowledge of grain marketing, agronomy and Ag finance.Proficient with technology : computer and mobile devices, Microsoft Office, AIP software and other applications.Active in community and industry related activities.Education Level / Required Certification
Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent agricultural / sales related work experience.Resident State Property & Casualty Insurance License (or ability to obtain within six months of hiring). Some states allow a crop-only license when authorized by DCI Division Manager.Non-resident State Insurance License (when applicable).Current FCIC certifications.Valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance.Additional Information
This position may be remote with the understanding that frequent travel will be required to and from customer locations and for team meetings. Business may be conducted in an office or "on-farm" as necessary. Work may require outside normal hours, occasional weekend or evening hours, overnight travel up to 25%. Must be willing to perform other job-related functions as assigned; confidentiality and non-disclosure of customer information required. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs may be necessary.
