Job description

Patient Care Technician, Maternity Care Center, PRN Tier 1, Brunswick

Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic and advanced patient care activities, and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.

Essential responsibilities include :

Contributing to patient database by collecting and documenting patient information

Preparing patient rooms for admissions, returning surgical patients, transfers, or discharges

Providing general patient care, such as morning care, which may include bed bath, oral hygiene, combing hair, dressing patient, evening care, back rubs, changing bed linens, cleaning overbed table and bedside stand, straightening room, and other general care as necessary throughout the shift

Preparing patient for meals, and assisting with meals or feeding the patient

Collecting and transporting specimens as ordered or requested

Reporting any changes observed in condition or behavior of patients in a timely manner

Responding promptly to patient needs and call lights

Providing for patient safety through preventative measures

Demonstrating skills such as discontinuing peripheral IV, discontinuing indwelling urinary catheter, phlebotomy, EKG, bladder scanning, wound care, obtaining blood products, nasopharyngeal specimen swabs, and ostomy appliance change

Minimum qualifications include :

High school graduate or equivalent preferred

Minimum of six-months successful experience as a certified nursing assistant

Validated and successful completion of SGHS's Patient Care Technician competencies

Certification as a Nursing Assistant in the state of Georgia

American Heart Association BLS Certification
