Responsibilities : Job Summary
The Nurse Practitioner functions as a provider and coordinator of direct patient care. The Nurse Practitioner performs tasks and services under the direct control and supervision of a state-approved supervising physician in accordance with the mission, standards, policies, and practices of Oroville Hospital.
Duties
Examines patient, takes medical history, records results, and makes preliminary diagnosis or decides on follow-up procedures.Administers or orders diagnostic tests such as X rays, electrocardiograms, blood work, and interprets test results.Performs therapeutic procedures, such as immunizations, injections, suturing and wound care, and managing infection.Exercises professional judgment regarding consultation with supervising physicians concerning appropriate treatment.Develops and implements patient care plans, instructs and counsels patients, and records progress.Prescribes medications to the extent allowable by state guidelines and clinic regulations.Provides general health education regarding matters such as proper diet, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.Assists physician, as required, for emergency treatment and more complex procedures.Performs other duties as assigned.Other Info :
Lifting Requirements : Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Lifting, pushing, pulling up to 40 pounds, transferring, repositioning patients, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching for patient care functions.
Work area is well lighted and ventilated. Regularly exposed to the risks of blood borne and airborne diseases. Contact with patients in a wide variety of circumstances. Exposed to noise, chemicals, communicable diseases, and hazardous materials. Wears personal protective equipment as required.
