Job Description

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This opportunity is for a Special Education Teacher supporting middle school students with emotional and behavioral challenges that impact their participation in the general curriculum. This role is ideal for educators passionate about making a meaningful difference by providing personalized support within a flexible schedule to meet diverse student needs.

Position Details :

  • Location : Henrico, VA (single middle school site)
  • Contract Duration : August 19 through May 30 (Non-School Year contract)
  • Schedule : 7.25 hours per day, 5 days per week
  • Caseload : Approximately 6 students at this time

Key Responsibilities :

  • Deliver tailored instruction and support to middle school students with emotional / behavioral difficulties
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to facilitate inclusion and access to the general curriculum
  • Monitor and adjust teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and participation
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to best address individual student needs
  • Document progress and communicate regularly with parents and support staff

    • Qualifications :

  • Valid Special Education teaching certification
  • Experience working with middle school-aged students, preferably those with emotional / behavioral challenges
  • Ability to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset
  • Flexibility in schedule and approach to meet evolving student needs
